Job Description

Responsibilities

The Office of Continuous Improvement (OCI) collaborates with staff across the Port Authority to improve business processes, enhance customer experience, and foster innovation, collaboration, and accountability in alignment with the Authority's priorities and standards. The Office uses Lean and design thinking tools to solve problems, achieve measurable impact, and institutionalize continuous improvement mindsets and practices.

Primary responsibilities include leading and facilitating continuous improvement projects in close coordination with partner line and staff departments. Specific functions include project scoping (problem statement development, stakeholder consensus building, work plan development), project prep work (data collection, collecting customer and employee feedback and perspective, process mapping, observations), solution development (workshop facilitation, analysis, defining roles and responsibilities, development of recommendations), implementation (workflow development, as an example), and performance metric development and tracking of progress. The selected candidate will also support the development and execution of the continuous improvement capacity-building program, which will aim to teach continuous improvement tools and build a network of continuous improvement professionals throughout the organization. In addition, the selected candidate will support OCI program administration, including supporting budgeting and/or procurement processes. Possible additional scopes of work include building tools to measure and convey the impact of continuous improvement projects.

The Senior Continuous Improvement Analyst will report to the Supervising Business Analyst, and work closely with all staff on the Office of Continuous Improvement team.

Qualifications

• Applicant must have a master's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business, Public Administration, Planning, Technology, Data Science, Design Thinking, organizational psychology, change management, industrial engineering, or operations research, OR equivalent work experience.

• Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in operations, business management, technology strategy, project management, analysis, and planning or policy development.

• Demonstrated strength in problem solving, process improvement and change management.

• Must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods.

Desired

• Demonstrated strong management skills with the ability to establish and execute plans, set priorities, coordinate activities, delegate tasks, manage time and multi-task.

• Experience as a visual designer and/or technologist.

• Analytical mindset, demonstrated data analysis experience, and the ability to use data to help define and solve for problems; and a desire to further develop analytical capabilities.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be persuasive with staff at all levels.

• Thorough knowledge of Port Authority businesses, policies and procedures.

• An interest in, and experience with, innovation.

• Demonstrated experience working on interdepartmental initiatives.

• Excellent oral and written communication.

Tasks

  • Formulate mathematical or simulation models of problems, relating constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters.
